This year’s Bute community panto will be performed on December 11 and 12 - and the pace of rehearsals is quickening as the first night looms.

Puss In Boots is being staged by the Bute Amateur Players and Achievement Bute at a new home, Rothesay Joint Campus, while the Pavilion undergoes renovation work.

And while the move to a new venue presents some challenges, writer and director Dorothy McDonald says it’s an exciting experience too.

“We can’t do some of the things we used to do at the Pavilion,” Dorothy said, “because of simple things like the lack of wings on the stage and the fact that other groups are using the stage between our rehearsals.

“But everyone at the school has been incredibly helpful, and staging the show there gives an opportunity for a lot of young people to get involved behind the scenes.”
