Four trombone players together known as ‘Slide Too Far’ visited Rothesay on Saturday to lead a workshop with local children organised by island charity Achievement Bute.

The quartet - Christopher Mansfield, Alex Trotter, Antonio Jiménez and Josiah Walters - all studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, and now spend much of their time passing their skills and knowledge on to the next generation of potential players.

Their workshop on Saturday was followed by a short recital in which the children who took part in the workshops had the chance to get involved by providing the rhythm section for a lively Latin American tango.

Saturday’s event was organised through Achievement Bute’s links with Live Music Now, an initiative set up to bring live music to groups of people who might rarely, if ever, get the chance to listen or play in person with professional musicians.
