VIDEO: Rain can’t dampen spirits at Rothesay street fair

Waiting for Video...

Heavy showers failed to spoil the fun of the fair in Rothesay on Sunday as community group Light Up Bute staged its latest fund-raising event in the town.

Following its successful Easter fair and parade on the town’s promenade last month, the group - set up to raise funds for a community fireworks display on Bonfire Night, and to boost community spirit at the same time - invited Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Guildford Square on Sunday afternoon, with a bouncy castle, face-painting and a variety of stalls also present to ensure there was something to interest visitors of all ages.

Our video, though, shows the real stars of the show, in the form of the island’s line dancing group, the Isle of Bute Country Coasters, and pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School in the town, who have set up their own line-dancing club.

More from Light Up Bute’s street fair in the next edition of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, May 30.
