Douglas Bruce's memories of his Royal Navy service during the Second World War will be launched at Rothesay Library on March 6.

The Second World War memories of a Rothesay man who spent almost the entire conflict serving in the Royal Navy will be published next week.

‘What Did You Do In The War, Grandad?’, written by Douglas Bruce, will be officially launched at a signing session at Rothesay Library on Thursday, March 6 at 1pm.

“The credit goes to my children for making the book come about,” Douglas told The Buteman.

“I would never have bothered putting it together if it hadn’t been for them.

“Some might see putting it all down in a book as a bit of an ego trip, and perhaps some things are embellished a little bit, but bearing in mind that the truth must be told, I’ve done my best to tell it.”

* More on Douglas’s book in this week’s issue of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, February 27.
