Penman's Jazzmen will open the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival's 2014-15 series of monthly winter sessions on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

The legendary Penman’s Jazzmen will kick off the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival’s series of monthly winter sessions in Rothesay next month.

The group – part of the bill at almost every Bute festival since the event’s inception in 1988 – will perform at the Victoria Hotel on September 28 in the first of six monthly concerts at the venue leading up to the 2015 Festival.

Also booked to make a welcome return to Rothesay, having missed this year’s festival due to a clash of bookings, are the hugely popular Rose Room, whose infectious gypsy jazz has made them a huge hit on Bute since their first concert on the island in 2010.

The winter line-up is completed by Les Gitanes, accompanied by Nova Scotia Jazz Band clarinet player John Burgess, the quartet JazzMain led by saxophonist Nick Gould, and Dundee-based Havana Swing, another big success story from recent Bute festivals.

More info at www.butejazz.com – and watch out for our coverage of the sessions in print and online!
