The legendary Penman’s Jazzmen will kick off the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival’s series of monthly winter sessions in Rothesay next month.
The group – part of the bill at almost every Bute festival since the event’s inception in 1988 – will perform at the Victoria Hotel on September 28 in the first of six monthly concerts at the venue leading up to the 2015 Festival.
Also booked to make a welcome return to Rothesay, having missed this year’s festival due to a clash of bookings, are the hugely popular Rose Room, whose infectious gypsy jazz has made them a huge hit on Bute since their first concert on the island in 2010.
The winter line-up is completed by Les Gitanes, accompanied by Nova Scotia Jazz Band clarinet player John Burgess, the quartet JazzMain led by saxophonist Nick Gould, and Dundee-based Havana Swing, another big success story from recent Bute festivals.
