The second half of the Bute Arts Society’s 2013-14 concert season begins on Friday, January 10, when the Maxwell String Quartet play at Rohtesay Joint Campus.

All four members of the quartet - Colin Scobie (violin), George Smith (violin), Asher Zaccardelli (viola) and Duncan Strachan (cello) - hail from Scotland, and their Rothesay concert will kick off a six-date tour of Argyll and Bute also including performances in Dunoon, Islay, Campbeltown, Ardrishaig and Oban under the auspices of the Argyll and Bute Concert Tours organisation.

Having studied individually at various music academies, the quartet was formed in 2010 at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and where the quartet are now Junior Fellows in Chamber Music.

The quartet’s Rothesay concert on January 10 begins at 7.30pm, and admission is £7, except for school pupils, for whom entry is free.
