Young Bute singer Beth Swan has made it through to the regional finals of the UK-wide TeenStar singing competition.
Twelve-year-old Beth’s performances have earned her a place in the Scottish final of the contest, taking place in front of a live audience at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow on Saturday, April 5.
It’s the second year in a row that Beth has qualified for the regional finals of the competition, and she’ll be hoping to equal or better her achievement 12 months ago, when she won through to the competition’s area final - the national semi-final - in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Events co-ordinator Chris Grayston said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy or Luke Friend that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist. There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again!”
The TeenStar competition is run by the same organisation behind the Open Mic UK contest, in which another Bute singer, Aimee Gilmour, reached the grand final at the O2 Arena in London in 2012.
