Art Ashore with Achievement Bute

Have your say

The children of Achievement Bute have been exceptionally busy this past week, gathering litter from Ettrick Bay to create a giant seal sculpture, reminding visitors to pick up after themselves.

In a joint endeavour between Achievement Bute, Beachwatch Bute and island artist Ruth Slater, the children have been extremely fortunate to have had mainly sunny and dry weather for spending time at the beach. In fact, as our slideshow demonstrates, conditions were excellent for sandcastle construction!

The children take a well-deserved seat in front of their completed seal scultpure!

The sculpture is to be a lasting reminder that waste we leave behind can damage our island’s wildlife, and the only seal the children wish to see filled with plastic is the one they made this week.
