The ladies of Port Bannatyne SWRI were treated to a talk from Donald Kinnear on his trip to St Kilda, accompanied with slides of his visit.

The speaker for the opening meeting of Port Bannatyne SWRI was Donald Kinnear, who had chosen as his subject, a trip to St Kilda.

He gave a brief background to the development of the islands making up St Kilda and the problems which led to their final evacuation in the 1936. He followed this with many lovely slides of his trip from Oban, south of Skye and finally to St Kilda.

Not only did he cover the area of Village Bay but he had time to explore the rest of the island of Hirta and also sail close to the other islands.

The excellent turnout of members were very appreciative of his talk and the enthusiasm he conveyed.

Competition winners were as follows:

A Knitted Hat - 1 Jessmay Morton, 2 Muriel Mackay, 3. Jean McMillan

Shortbread - 1 Marie Scott, 2 Jessmay Morton
