Bute curlers took on a rink from Gourock last week at Greenock's Waterfront.

A regular Day League game on Wednesday, November 9, saw Ron Forrester (skip), Donald Kinnear, Bill Stein and John Middleton take to the ice at Greenock’s Waterfront to play a Gourock side skipped by G. Rae.

It was the Gourock side who made the better start to the game, taking the first end by 1 shot. Bute answered with a strong second end to go ahead by 3 shots to 1.

Gourock upped their game in the next two ends, adding five shots to their score to go into the lead by 6 shots to 3. Bute added a shot to their score in the following end but still trailed by 3 shots going into the seventh end.

However, with only 2 ends to go, Bute amazed Gourock by taking 6 shots in the seventh end and gilded the lily by adding 4 shots in the final end to win by 14-7.

Another great result for Ron’s side which must improve Bute’s position in the league table!

Two games coming up will see Bute play in the Province and Day League fixtures.
