Curling: Bute’s Tappit Hen bid founders
Bute’s bid to win the Tappit Hen Trophy at Braehead this week foundered as the two island rinks both fell to a brace of defeats.
Bute 1, skipped by Ron Forrester, lost 10-6 to Dunoon 2 and 12-5 to Dunoon 1, while Bute 2, led by Donald Kinnear, were beaten 8-4 by Ardrossan and 10-2 by Gourock.
The overall winners of the trophy, contested by five Clyde coast curling clubs, were Largs Thistle, with Gourock finishing runners-up.
