Rothesay played host to an event on Thursday designed to increase the public’s awareness of womb cancer.
Held at the Community Hub in Guildford Square, the event was organised by Bute resident Kaz Molloy, who was diagnosed with womb cancer almost three years ago and is still working her way back to full health.
Among those who attended the event, held on International Womb Cancer Awareness Day, was Morag Robertson, the local community nurse from Macmillan Cancer Support, who offered Kaz support and advice when she was first diagnosed.
Kaz has since gone on to set up a support group, Womb Cancer Support UK.
“I just wanted someone to talk to,” Kaz said, “and there was nobody on Bute who had been through womb cancer.
“So I went on to Facebook and started a support group, which now has members throughout the UK and further afield.
“I’ve made videos which are on YouTube too - it’s all about letting women known the signs and symptoms, and about spreading the message to go to their GP if they have concerns.”
