Bute’s annual sheepdog trials were held in glorious sunshine at Eskechraggan farm near Rothesay on Wednesday.

The top prize in the open section, the Glenaylmer Trophy, was won by Roddy McDiarmid and his collie Jim, who amassed 96 points out of a hundred, while the top competitor in the confined class was Bobby Howatson and the prize for the most points from a Bute competitor by John Baker and Vicky.

More than 60 shepherds from all over Scotland competed in the event; the prizes were presented by local resident Sandra Clarke.
