A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a 21-year-old man in the chest during a fight in Rothesay on Sunday, July 31.

A 21-year-old local man was stabbed in Rothesay’s town centre yesterday afternoon.

Police attended the town’s Hillhouse Road at 1.30pm on Sunday, July 31, and found the victim had sustained a stab wound to the chest.

The suspect - a 41-year-old man - was apprehended on the island. He is in police custody and is due to appear at court on Tuesday, August 2.

The victim was taken to hospital on the mainland by Helimed where he underwent surgery. He is in a stable condition.
