Gordon Frame will be setting off on a round-Bute kayak challenge in April to raise money for Erskine Hospital.

The coffers of Erskine Hospital are set to be boosted later this year when one man sets off on a round-Bute kayak challenge.

Gordon Frame has chosen to cover the 40 mile distance over the course of two or three days, weather dependent, after seeing first-hand the excellent work done by staff at the hospital for ex-servicemen and women.

Gordon’s interest was sparked through friends of his who play in the Bowling Harbour Ceilidh Band. “They play at Erskine most months,” he explained, “and I joined then one night and was impressed with how much care and attention the staff put into the Hospital.

“Last year I ran the Bealach Na Bah road to Applecross and we - I say we because there were lots of people who gave up their time to support the event - raised over £1000.

“This year the event is called Adventure for Erskine. The plan is to arrive at Rothesay on Wednesday, April 30, aboard yachts and the start time will be on Thursday, May 1, around 11am starting from the marina.

“Weather permitting I will be heading South round Garroch Head with possibly two nights wild camping on the west coast of Bute.”
