Rothesay Rotarians donate almost £8,000 to charity

A busy year for the Rotary Club of Rothesay included this donation to the STV Appeal, given to Mark Beaumont during the adventurer's brief stopover on Bute on the second day of his Highland Line charity challenge in June.

 

Almost eight thousand pounds was donated to local, national and international charities by the Rotary Club of Rothesay during 2013, it was revealed this week.

The largest single donation from the year’s total of £7,798.45, amassed at a variety of public fund-raising events and club activities during the year, was given to the relief effort in the Philippines following the devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan on November 8.

Closer to home, projects on Bute which received support from the club included the Bute Palliative Care Fund, the Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association and Beachwatch Bute.
