Mount Stuart will host the 2014 WOWSA Global Open Water Swimming Conference in September.

 

Bute will host around 500 of the world’s leading figures in open water swimming later this year, for the 2014 WOWSA Global Open Water Swimming Conference.

The two-day event for the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA), which will be held at Mount Stuart from September 20-21, will include a series of talks from internationally recognised speakers, a 2k open water swim in St Ninian’s Bay, a hall of fame induction ceremony and an awards lunch.

Atheletes will hear from guest speakers, including Colleen Blair who was the first woman to swim The Pentland Firth, the stretch of water between Orkney and the Scottish mainland. There will also be an awards ceremony, and to bring the conference to a close, there will be an open water swim at St Ninian’s Bay.
