A Bute Fabrics director had cause to celebrate on Friday afternoon, when he was presented with an award for 30 years of service to the island firm.

Eddie Planck received his award and accompanying gifts (which included several cans of cider!) at a presentation in the Barone Road mill in front of the company’s employees and directors.

Also present were two of Bute Fabrics’ former directors, Norman Lamond and Donald Kinnear.

Managing Director, James Sprint, commented: “When I started here Eddie was an enigma to me, because I couldn’t for the life of me understand why he wasn’t a director. Thankfully that was soon put right.

“He’s been a real pleasure to work with.”

Following the presentation, Eddie said: “When I started this place was buzzing. It was chock-a-block with orders, and I’m hoping that this year will be the beginning of the same.

“It’s a great company to work for, and each of the directors keeps the values of Bute Fabrics going.”
