Pictured above are members and guests of the Lodge Rothesay St John No, 292 at the organisation’s annual installation ceremony.

Among those present for the installation of Hugh L. McCormack as the lodge’s Right Worshipful Master for the coming year was a large group of visitors from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Argyll and the Isles, headed by Donald S. Bannatyne, from Arran, the depute Provincial Grand Master.

Freemasonry on Bute dates back around 191 years; the building which is home to the Rothesay lodge was opened in 1909, and features many depictions of the history of freemasonry - most notably the seven wonders of the ancient world, which adorns the whole of the western wall of the main hall.
