Archery, trampolining, football, tennis, gymnastics, cricket, shinty, rugby, kick-boxing and golf are just some of the sports children and adults alike will be able to sample at a family-friendly gala day in Rothesay this weekend.

The free event, at Rothesay Joint Campus this Sunday, March 23, from 12 noon until 3pm, is aimed at promoting the efforts of the island’s sports clubs and encouraging people to take part in sports they may never have tried before.

It’s been organised by the Rothesay community sport hub (CSH), which was formed last August and has been working hard since then on improving both the facilities available to the community on Bute and getting local sports clubs to work together for the good of the island as a whole.

The day’s programme has been split into six half-hour sessions, giving both young people and adults plenty of opportunities to sample the activities of their choice.

More details in this week’s issue of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, March 20.
