Police arrested a 38-year-old man on charges of extortion, attempted extortion, making threats and theft following an incident in Rothesay on Thursday, August 14.

 

A 38-year-old man appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, charged with extortion, attempted extortion, making threats and theft.

The man was arrested by police in Rothesay on Thursday following an incident in the town’s Bishop Street.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail to an address in Glasgow. A special condition was attached to the bail order banning the man from returning to Bute until the case is concluded.
