The Gildas String Quartet brought Bute Arts Society’s 2014-15 concert season to a close at Rothesay Joint Campus on Friday night.
The group - Christopher Jones (violin), Gemma Sharples (violin), Kay Stephen (viola) and Anna Menzies (cello) began their programme for the evening with Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue in C minor (K546), and continued with Leos Janacek’s String Quartet No. 1, also known as ‘the Kreutzer sonata’.
Their final piece was Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59 No. 2 in E minor (the last few bars of which are featured in the video above), while they added Edvard Grieg’s Romance for String Quartet in G minor as an encore.
