The gig list for Transclyde Music’s 2015 programme of visiting musicians has been announced, and it looks like island music-lovers are in for a real treat.

Kicking things off on Saturday, January 24, taking the stage at St Paul’s Church Hall in Deanhood Place is Tim O’Connor and Doc Rossi.

Tim O’Connor has carved his own path and built a strong reputation as a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and charismatic performer, while Doc Rossi is one of the most renowned cittern specialists in Europe.

On Saturday, February 14, Ewan McLennan will be making his way to Bute to perform at Craigmore Bowling Club. Ewan has, in a short space of time, come to be known as a guitarist at the very forefront of his generation; a troubadour, balladeer and storyteller cut in the old style.

In March, Transclyde Music will welcome Ivan Drever. Ivan, who hails from Orkney, has recorded a number of solo albums and performed with a host of musicians on separate works. Ivan’s songs and tunes have been recorded by an impressive list of artists and indeed one, which was co-written with Duncan Chisholm, was featured in the Robin Williams film “Good Will Hunting”.

Heading into April and May the gig list is set to be a bumper list, with Stefan Grossman, Ben Bedford, Gus Munro and Alan Murphy, and Eleanor McEvoy.

Tickets for all gigs, as ever, will be available from Musicker (01700) 502287 or Macqueen’s Butchers (01700) 502067, and more information on upcoming performances can be found on Transclyde Music’s website.
