Part three of our look ahead to the Bute live music scene in 2015 focuses on the American guitarist, singer, producer and teacher Stefan Grossman.
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1945, Stefan, who is booked to perform at Craigmore Bowling Club on April 18, began performing in 1964 with a group of friends in the Even Dozen Jug Band, formed amid a revival of folk and country blues sweeping the United States at the time.
Along with friends Rory Block and Mike Cooper he produced and released one of the earliest guitar instructional LPs, How To Play Blues Guitar, in the mid-1960s, and several more instructional records and videos have followed since, along with more than 20 performance albums.
Having scaled back his touring and performance recording schedule in the mid-1980s, Grossman returned to the road in 2006, and now appears regularly in the US, Europe and Japan, as well as being a frequent visitor to the UK, where he has family links.
As ever we’ll have more info on his first Bute performance a little nearer the time - check back here and see our print edition for full details.
