Bute’s reputation as a great venue for quality live music looks set to grow further in 2015 thanks to the efforts of local group Transclyde Music - and over the next few days we’ll be taking a look at just a few of the artists set to perform on the island in the next 12 months.
First up in this mini-series is Ewan McLennan, who’ll take to the stage at Craigmore Bowling Club on February 14.
Ewan has come to be known as a guitarist at the very forefront of his generation - a troubadour, balladeer and storyteller cut in the old style; a singer who can move audiences with his passion and pathos; and a songwriter for whom social justice is still a burning issue.
From a BBC Horizon Award for his debut album to his recent performances on the acclaimed Transatlantic Sessions, recent years have been marked by numerous awards and accolades for his music.
His new album, ‘Stories Still Untold’, is already attracting critical acclaim and is sure to further cement him as “one of the bright lights on the folk scene today”.
He’ll come to Bute fresh from a gig at Celtic Connections in January which will see the first performance of the new Ewan mcLennan Trio, also featuring Lauren MacColl on viola and violin and Sid Goldsmith on guitar, double bass, vocals and more.
