A warm welcome awaits fellow islander Ivan Drever - a supremely talented songwriter and guitarist who will be performing in Rothesay next weekend.
Drever, who hails from Orkney, has recorded a host of albums both as a solo artist and with other performers, and has performed his unique brand of folk music across the UK and the USA.
In December of 2013, Ivan released Volume 1 of ‘Music From The Vaults’ which is a compilation of various recordings from the past decade or so. The thirteen tracks feature guest appearances by Charlie McKerron, Kris Drever and Jim Hunter alongside live tracks, outtakes and featuring never before heard tracks by the band Clueless with pipers Gordon Duncan and Ross Ainslie.
He often tours with popular fiddler Duncan Chisholm who founded the Celtic rock band Wolfstone which Drever joined in 1990 but left in later years. For three decades, Drever has produced a unique music sound, mixing traditional folk with some rock and roll sounds.
Drever will make his debut performance on Bute on Saturday, March 21, at Craigmore Bowling Club at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10, and are available from Musicker (01700) 502287 and Macqueen’s Butchers (01700) 502067.
