Bute Arts Society is set to host a charity concert by husband and wife duo, Jean Johnson and Steven Osborne.
Jean is a keen chamber musician and is a member of the critically acclaimed Glasgow-based chamber ensemble, Daniel’s Beard.
She has performed in some of the world’s finest venues, notably the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with mezzo-soprano, Andrea Baker and pianist Klaus Sallmann, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels with Steven Osborne, Alban Gerhardt and Alina Abrigamova, and in Carnegie Hall with Barry Douglas in NYC.
Steven Osborne’s standing as one of the great pianists of his generation was publicly affirmed in 2013 with two major awards: The Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year and his second Gramophone Award, this time in the Instrumental category for his recording of Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition and solo works by Prokofiev.
In the UK he works regularly with the major orchestras, especially with the London Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC Symphony and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras.
The concert begins at 7.30pm in the assembly hall of Rothesay Joint Campus on Friday, January 9, and admission is £7 (free to students).
