Rothesay charity For Bute has made a donation of £2,000 to help with the cost of staging the second ButeFest music festival in 2016.
The donation follows the announcement last month by ButeFest’s organisers that the event - staged for the first time in July - would return to the island’s calendar next year.
For Bute’s latest round of donations to good causes on the island - raised from purchases of items on sale at its shop in Victoria Street - also saw £1,000 split equally between two Rothesay Academy field trips, one for Advanced Higher biology students to Millport, the other to the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Presentations were also made to Achievement Bute, Rothesay Brandane AFC and John Paul’s Retreat, a new initiave set up recently to provide short breaks at a holiday flat in Ardbeg for families who have suffered bereavement.
