After three record releases, five European tours and hundreds of shows across the US in the last four years, Anna Coogan is excited to be heading back to the UK for a string of live dates including a performance at Rothesay’s St Paul’s Church Hall on July 10.
A dyed-in-the-wool East Coaster (Boston, Vermont, and now New York) who lived in Seattle for twelve years and Salzburg, Austria for one, Anna has worked as an opera singer, a salmon biologist, a trash hauler, and a whitewater kayaking instructor among seemingly hundreds of other jobs.
From this strange mix of geography and occupations comes her own poignant take on Americana and Alt-country- the dark alleyways and rolling hills, the conquistadors haunting the ocean floor, the girls with red shoes, the lonely ex-pats, and the legions of breaking hearts.
* Anna Coogan will play at St Paul’s Church Hall on Wednesday, July 10. Doors open at 7pm with music starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Musicker, Macqueen’s Butchers, Port Bannatyne Post Office and Bute Packpackers.
