Scripture Union Scotland has had a team of young folk leading missions in Rothesay during the last two summers, and plan to come back again next year. The activity has been backed by all the churches on Bute, and was very much appreciated by many of those taking part. But what for the rest of the year?
One of the outcomes is ‘Messy Church’.
‘Messy Church’ is for all ages and all backgrounds - it’s not just for those already part of a church, and it’s not just for school children, whole families are encouraged to join in. It is not a club, it is a church in which Christians can share their faith and be hospitable to all comers. There are times of activity like parachute games and time with glue and pencils and paper, etc., times of sharing Biblical accounts, and always a sit-down meal at the end.
Where does it take place? Always in the wonderfully light and airy church hall of the United Church of Bute (at the top of the High Street, past the swimming pool).
When? On the first Monday of each month, after school, starting at about 3.15pm until 5pm. The next one is on Monday, December 1.
Get along and take your family and friends - it is for all ages, but only if all ages are there! You will be very welcome, and there is no charge.
