The authors of Britain’s first proper guide to the country’s top dog-friendly holiday destinations visited their ‘second home’ on Bute this week.
Author Jane Common and her dog Attlee, the creative partnership behind Phileas Dogg’s Guide to Dog Friendly Holidays in Britain, itself inspired by the pair’s Phileas Dogg blog, called in at Rothesay bookshop Print Point during a break on Bute to visit Jane’s parents, Mick and Branwen, who live in Port Bannatyne.
“I started the blog because I felt there was a need for it,” Jane told The Buteman. “There are a lot of lists out there of dog-friendly places but they don’t say whether these places are actually any good or not.
“It just started as a hobby but I soon realised it could develop into something more, and if there was scope or interest in doing another book I’d definitely be up for that.”
The Print Point visit was part of a series of talks and signing sessions organised to mark Independent Booksellers Week, which also featured authors Marguerite Kaye, Myra Duffy and Helen FitzGerald.
