Adventurer Mark Beaumont’s Highland Line charity challenge, which visted Bute in June, is to be broadcast on STV this week.
The challenge, which lasted for ten days and saw Mark run and swim from Blackwaterfoot on Arran to Aberdeen, following the route of the Highland Fault Line, will be shown this Wednesday, October 2, at 8pm.
After coming ashore at Dunagoil on the afternoon of Sunday, June 2, Mark was welcomed to Rothesay at a shindig in Guildford Square featuring live local music and dancing, before hosting a Q&A at the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre.
The following morning he ran from Dunagoil to Ardbeg Point, accompanied for part of the distance by pupils from Rothesay Academy and cheered on by cjhildren from the island’s primary schools, before swimming from Ardbeg to Ardyne and continuing his challenge by running to Dunoon.
The challenge was undertaken in aid of the STV Appeal, and Wednesday’s 60-minute documentary kicks off a series of programmes on the subject, culminating in a live show on Friday, October 11, when Lorraine Kelly will reveal the total raised for the appeal this year.
