The organiser of the Bute Line Dance Festival says he had no option but to cancel the 2013 event due to illness.
Gordon Gillespie told The Buteman that he had refunded all advance ticket bookings for the event, which attracts hundreds of line dancers to Bute for the September autumn holiday weekend.
“It’s the family who run the whole event,” Mr Gillespie said, “and my wife isn’t well, so I felt it was the only decision I could make.
“We’ve told everyone who booked in advance and refunded their tickets. Some people have decided they’re going to come to the island for the weekend anyway, and I’ve asked some of the local line dancers if they might be able to put something on, but as far as the festival is concerned I really had no option.”
