A Bute woodworker and B&B owner says he could have filled his guest accommodation “three times over” during the Isle of Bute Artists Collective’s recent open studios weekend.
Ray Beverley, who is also a member of both IBAC and Bute Community Council, told BCC’s monthly meeting this week that the group’s members had “never had so many people through their doors”.
“Between three and four hundred people came through the doors of some of the venues,” Mr Beverley said. “The open top bus was stopping and waiting for people at venues all over the island. I could have booked my B&B out three times over.
“We had a lot more people from off the island coming to the event this year, and that has to be a big positive for Bute.”
Thirteen venues exhibited the works of 21 Bute-based artists during the Bute Studio Trail open weekend on September 27 and 28.
