This year may be a ‘gap year’ as far as golf’s Ryder Cup is concerned - but that didn’t stop Rothesay’s golfers playing their own version of the famous tournament on Sunday.
With both flags fluttering from the flagpole, a big turnout of 60 players, most sporting the colours of their teams, red for the US A and blue for Europe, resulted in another win for the ‘American’ team by ten points to five.
The match was well organised by the Charker brothers and our ‘annual visitor’ John Gilchrist, now of bowling fame. Most players donated prizes and there were more prize winners than losers.
Perhaps it was slightly louder than ‘the other’ Ryder Cup but a most enjoyable day was had by all.
