Primary six and seven pupils from Rothesay Primary School received some hands-on experience of Scotland’s national sport - shinty.
On Thursday afternoon at Rothesay Joint Campus, the pupils were assessed under the supervision of Euan McMurdo, Shinty Development Officer for Argyll and Bute, along with support from Iain MacDonald and James Craig from Bute Shinty Club, and Jane Sinclair from Active Schools. The youngsters’ training will be extended to other age groups from within the school, allowing the children to hone their shinty skills at a young age.

With the profile of shinty having been raised dramatically in recent years, it is hoped that the momentum will be carried on with the next generation.
