Rothesay Golf Club retained the trophy in the annual social match played for against Port Bannatyne on Saturday, June 14.
The score of 31/2 to 3/12 was not enough for the club to win back the trophy and so it returns to the Rothesay’s trophy cabinet.
A superb day was rounded off by a fabulous meal provided by Janey Jardine and the general bragging rights that goes on after this annual duel.
The results were as follows (Port names first): I. Shaw & P. Barnett won against S. McKechnie & G. McGuigan 3&2; R. Turnbull & D. Driver lost to I. Simpson & K. Thomson 3&1; R. Jardine & D. Bodys won against H. Charker & J. Ewing 1 up; J. Thom & C. MacPhail lost to C. Charger & J. Burke 2&1; A. Greer & A. Greer (Jnr) lost to R. McKechnie & S. Kernaghan 3&1; D. Reid & R. Shaw won against R. Cuthbertson & F. Lee 4&3; J. Bicker & G. McIntyre halved with J. Maltman & R. McArthur.
For Calum MacPhail and P. Barnett it was a case of déjà vu in the second round of the Ettrick Bay Tea Room Summer Cup. After a score of 36 in round one, they repeated that in round 2. After a net hole in one at the 10th in round one, Calum repeated that but this time with his 2 net 1 at the 11th. Even at this early stage in the competition they are proving to be the front runners.
New names were added to the Salmon Leap winners list last week when Joe Livingstone took first place with 33 points and Iain McFarlane was in second with 28.
This weekend it is a case of no golf at the Port but all action none the less. Saturday is Tee in the Port and Sunday is clean up day. Bring it on!
