Quiet weekend for Port golfers

After last weekend’s busy schedule, sadly the only golf to report from Port Bannatyne Golf Club this week is Friday’s Salmon Leap.

The winning score of 29 points was posted by Joe Livingstone with Donald Standaloft’s 26 points securing second place.

Sunday’s scheduled first round of the M&M was a total wash out. With an 8am starting ballot, only three brave souls out on the course by 11.15am, the wind gusting so hard it was hard to stand steady to putt and the greens becoming more and more waterlogged the plug was pulled and the golf postponed for the day.

This means a rescheduling of the M&M, and the first round will now have been played over Rothesay. The second round is this Sunday at Bute Golf Club, and the third round will now be played at the Port on the following Sunday, May 17. This means a slight change to the Port’s fixture list and members should check the notice board for these changes.

Entry sheets are now up on the competition board in the foyer for, The McFadyen Trophy, The Port Open, The Jimmy Whitelaw Cup, The Bute Motor Co Open and The Past Captains’ 4 Man Team Event.

* For junior golfers at the Port, registration for all age groups will take place on Saturday morning between 10am and 12 noon with the first actual golf being played on Tuesday evening.

Times for each age group will be intimated at registration.
