Last weekend’s annual Isle of Bute Triathlon has been hailed as perhaps the best year of the event yet.
Murray Doyle told The Buteman the triathlon - held at Rothesay Leisure Centre on Sunday, May 15 - was a terrific event, maybe the best yet with great weather and 150 participants, alongside many other visitors and friends and family cheering from the sidelines.
Murray said: “It was a huge effort on the part of Bute Wheelers to pull it all together, but it would’ve been impossible without the very great support from many others on the day. The event was very kindly sponsored by the Co-operative supermarket, which really made a difference.”
There was a large contingent of local participants, with two teams from Rothesay Academy, a team from The Port Inn, the Jim Docherty Clan, and also a solo Colin McArthur.
Receiving the Calum’s Cabin award this year was a long-time participant in the Isle of Bute Triathlon and island ex-pat, Scott Samuel.
