Golf: Rothesay’s Scott beaten in Scottish Boys’ Championship

Rothesay Golf Club’s reigning junior champion Scott McAlister has fallen at the first hurdle of the Scottish Amateur Boys’ Championship.

Scott lost by a score of 3 and 2 to Lewis Reid of Craigielaw Golf Club in east Lothian in his first round tie at Murcar Links in Aberdeenshire on Monday afternoon.

The only other Argyll and Bute representative in Monday’s first round ties, Tobermory’s Lewis Brown, also exited the tournament after a one-hole defeat at the hands of another east Lothian player, Brodie Good of Gullane.

A field of 234 players, representing 129 clubs, is taking part in this year’s tournament, which reaches a climax on Saturday, April 9.
