Horrendous weather forced the postponement of the final round of qualifying fixtures in the Rothesay Motor Services Winter League at Port Bannatyne Golf Club on Sunday - but the knockout stages of the competition are already taking shape.

Two League A pairs are certain qualifiers - Robert Jardine and Calum MacPhail on 15 points and Hector Whitelaw and Donald Standaloft on 13 - with three pairs still harbouring hopes of making it through to the last eight.

Two pairs in League B have also booked their places in the last eight - Mark Crichton and sponsor David Reid top the table on 14 points, with Sam Jamieson and David Driver also guaranteed their place in the quarter-finals - but the battle for the other two qualifying places looks more clear-cut, with Colin Renfrew and Gordon Peacock favourites to make it through alongside Liam Shanks and David Greer.

The last round of qualifying games has been rescheduled to this Sunday, February 27; see this week’s issue of The Buteman for fixture details.
