Angus Murray climbed to the top of the standings in the Three in One Winter league singles competition at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday - despite his worst score of the competition so far.

Angus’s tally of 32 points means that he has now registered the eight counting scores which make up each player’s overall total - and thus has a five-shot lead over Craig Charker, with Michael Murty in third and Hughie Charker fourth.

The Charker brothers topped the weekly standings on Saturday, with Hughie scoring 38 and Craig 37 - though Craig had the consolation of being the only player to score a two this week, thereby lifting the twos money for both this and last week.

Tricky weather made scoring difficult in Sunday’s latest round of the pairs competition, with Jimmy Crawford and Gary Steele tying with Allan Laughlan and Stuart Strathie on 41 points apiece, Jimmy and Gary winning thanks to the better back nine.

Hughie and Craig Charker still lead the overall standings on 336 points, though Stuart Robertson and George Hanson moved up the leaderboard to third place after replacing their previous lowest score of 26 with a tally of 40.
