A league campaign which had been largely disjointed and beset with difficulties ended with a conclusive victory for Rothesay Golf Club.
The Rothesay team won by three and a half, to a half over Port Bannatyne in the play-off at neutral Kingarth.
Both clubs had finished equal on points and in games won and lost, necessitating this hitherto unique decider.
Although not themselves involved, Bute proved generous hosts both in affording courtesy of the course and in providing pre-match refreshments.
Hector Whitelaw provided the sole consolation for the Port, battling to a halved match in the top game after partner Pete Barnett had to withdraw from the fray with a damaged back halfway round.
