After many years of trying Chris Carson from Cowal Golf Club won the Bennie Trophy on Saturday.

In blustery and sometimes wet conditions Carson’s score of 142 (69 + 73) was one better than local golfer George Reynolds. Chris was the first player to play in the Bennie with a plus handicap (+1) for quite some time.

Geo got down in two from a difficult place in a bunker at the last holing a 20 footer to give him a squeak but Chris kept his cool and although in B B B (members will know) at the last he made a hard fought four to win the trophy he has tried to win for years.

In third place with a score of 144 came past winner Steven Coyle. Gordon McClean, Graham Bolton and Ian White field the next scratch places.

Rory McEwan won the first handicap prize from young Lachlan Reynolds in a creditable second place (Lachlan’s gross 71 was the best afternoon scratch score)

Third was John Shaw followed by David Cameron, Ryan McKirdy and Mark Ward.

Closest to the hole prizes won by:- Alister Shaw, Jack McKirdy, Graham Dunn, Tommy Reynolds and Allan Smith Jnr.
