A total of 60 gents took to the green in glorious sunshine on Sunday, August 16, to play in the Annual Gents Triples competition, once again generously sponsored by McKellar’s Funeral Directors.
The game was played in two sections with the four highest scoring teams in each section going through to quarter finals and then to the semi final stage. Reaching this were teams from Rothesay Bowling Club, Ardbeg Bowling Club, and Kirn and Hunter’s Quay Bowling Club.
Winning through to the final was the Triple from Rothesay of Stuart Gilchrist, John Wilson and Allan Cowan who played against Jim Wallace, Stewart McInnes and Andy Scott from Kirn and Hunter’s Quay.
Despite valiant efforts Rothesay conceded the game to Kirn who played fantastically and ran away with the game!
Before asking Mrs Mary Reynolds to present the prizes, president Johnny Walker thanked all those who attended for a great day’s bowls.
Johnny thanked all those involved in making the day a success, including John and Stuart Gilchrist for organising the cards and the format, David Reynolds for the scoreboard, Jock McKirdy for presenting the green in such great condition, bar staff - Susan and Julie and the ladies in the kitchen who kept 60+ hungry men fed throughout the day - June, Janice, Helen, Mavis, and Agnes. Johnny also thanked McKellar’s for their continued sponsorship of this competition.
After the presentation of prizes, Vice President John Wilson presented Mary with flowers and a bottle of wine as a thank you from the club.
