After a brief break from curling it was back to business as usual for the local club.
A rink skipped by Ron Forrester took to the ice at the Waterfront on Wednesday, October 26 to take on a Kilmacolm rink skipped by Jim Jamieson.
Ron’s rink was completed by Donald Kinnear, Margaret MacLeod and John Middleton and the Bute curlers were hoping for a positive result in the day league.
Bute made a good start to the game taking the first end by a single shot. Kilmacolm took the second and third ends and lead by 2 shots to 1 going into the fourth end. This end saw an improvement in the Bute side’s play with two shots being added to their score to put them in the lead by 1 shot.
The fifth end saw the rink play very well to take four shots and increase the gap between the sides. However Kilmacolm fought back in the following end to close the gap slightly by adding another shot to their total.
Both sides played well in the final two ends but it was the Bute curlers who came out on top adding four shots to their total to win convincingly to their total by 11 shots to three.
This was the best Bute result in the league for some time.
Coming up next is a club game for the Caldwell Cup.
