Bute Shinty Club’s first team may be in the prime spot as the South Division One championship battle draws to a close this Saturday - but it’s a big weekend for the club’s younger players too.
A 9-0 victory for Bute’s under-14s at home to their Aberdour counterparts last Sunday earned the islanders a crack at a play-off to decide the fate of the sport’s South of Scotland nine-a-side under-14 development league.
And like their senior clubmates, Bute are up against Oban opposition in their title quest, with Oban Camanachd ready to face the island’s future shinty stars in the league’s final fixture of the season this Sunday, November 8.
The match was due to be played at Inveraray at the time this story was written, with the possibility of a transfer to Taynuilt if weather leaves the first-choice venue unplayable.
Either way, good luck to both teams - it promises to be a cracking end to a memorable season!
