Both Bute Shinty Club’s teams are in cup action this Saturday, April 2, after torrential rain washed out their matches last weekend.
Bute’s first team had been due to host Caberfeidh at the Meadows on Saturday in a rearranged National Division fixture, but with the visitors facing an early start from their Strathpeffer base and torrential rain forecast for Rothesay in the early hours of Saturday, the decision was taken on Friday night to postpone the game - and it proved a sensible move, with the Meadows, as expected, left unplayable as a result of the heavy showers.
Bute’s second team fixture away to Tayforth in South Division Two last Saturday also fell victim to the weather.
This Saturday - again subject to the weather playing ball, with persistent rain forecast for Rothesay on Friday afternoon and evening - Bute’s first team are due to host National Division rivals Inverness at the Meadows in the preliminary round of the Camanachd Cup.
The Bught Park side have lost all three of their league matches this season - at home to Beauly and away to Caberfeidh and Inveraray - while Bute will be keen to put their only home result of the campaign so far, a 4-0 reversal at home to Glasgow Mid Argyll, behind them.
Throw-up at the Meadows is at 2.30pm.
Bute’s second team, meanwhile, are due to travel north to the shores of Loch Ness on Saturday to take on Boleskine in the first round of the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup.
Boleskine currently play in North Division Two and have a record of one win, one draw and one defeat from their three league matches so far in 2016.
Throw-up at Smith Park in Inverarnie on Saturday is at 1pm.
