Three young Bute shinty players took part in the 2013 Scottish Hydro National Player Development Camp in Perth recently.
Liam Poole, Scott Dunn and Ben Clark were among more than 70 young players aged between 14 and 17 who descended on Strathallan School for the event.
All the players present had been nominated by their youth or senior club to take part in the camp, designed to offer the very best in training and guidance to promising players.
Camp organiser, national shinty development officer Ronald Ross, said: “The Scottish Hydro National Player Development Camp has once again proved a great success.
Since its inception over 15 years ago, the camp has helped hundreds of young players from across the country to improve all aspects of their game from the technical to the physical elements of the sport.
“The camps are also a great way for the participants to meet other aspiring shinty players, forging ties and friendships throughout the sport.”
* Meanwhile, Bute Shinty Club’s Balliemore Cup winners made a successful return to the bread-and-butter of league business on Saturday with a 5-2 win away to Oban Celtic in South Division One.
Robert Walker led the way with a first-half hat-trick after Andy MacDonald opened the scoring for the hosts early on; further goals from James Craig and John MacCallum after the break ended the match as a contest, though Rory Bruce notched a consolation second for the home side in the final minute.
