Only five weeks after ending their 2015 campaign with a title-clinching win over Oban Celtic, Bute Shinty Club’s first team have been drawn at home to the same opponents in the first round of next season’s Macaulay Cup.
The draw for the competition was made in Oban on Saturday night and will see the winner of that first round tie play host to either Oban Camanachd or Inveraray in round two.
The competition draw, as always, keeps the top eight teams in the north and south of the country apart until the final, which will be played in Oban next August.
The current holders of the trophy are Newtonmore, who beat Inveraray 3-1 in this year’s final; Bute’s interest in the 2015 competition was ended at the first round stage by a 4-1 defeat at home to Oban Camanachd.
The full draw for the 2016 tournament is as follows.
